The Best Places to Visit in Bali in April
April is one of the best months for visiting Bali because tourists can do all the things that they usually want to do such as go to the beaches or the terraced fields. The weather is good, the waterfalls are bigger than in the summer, and the jungles and terraced fields are still lush.
April is generally the month for harvest in most of the terraced fields. The time of harvest depends on elevation, but you can catch them when they are lush green or yellow before the harvest. It is also a good month for visiting the beaches and surfing because the pollution and trash that comes in the wet season is mostly gone. So, you can enjoy visiting Bali's islands and beaches and have adventurous outdoor activities.
Here are some of the most suitable places for you to explore and experience during your visit to Bali in April.

1. Jimbaran Beach for Seafood, Sunsets, and Honeymoons
The quiet days and the colorful sunsets make Jimbaran a good beach in April. Jimbaran is one of the best beaches in Bali, and it is said that the sunsets there are among the best in Bali in April. It is about 4 km (2.5 miles) of white/tan soft sand and is good for lounging, honeymoons, and families. It is well known for its popular seafood restaurants and luxury hotels.
There are beautiful sunsets. After the sun sets, there are live entertainments, such as a mariachi band (guitarists, violinists, and trumpeters) or traditional dances.
We recommend that you could arrive at around 5 pm and take a seat in one of the restaurants located on the beach, order food and drink, and enjoy the romantic sunset while waiting for your fresh seafood.
The soft-sand beaches and reduced waves make the beach better suited for small children. A coral reef suppresses the waves.
Luxury hotel: The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay offers you unforgettable views and great water sports activities, such as windsurfing and catamaran sailing. All the villas have private pools, so you can swim in seclusion or dip in the infinity pool overlooking the sea. The resort has a private beach, which is a romantic spot for couples. There are gourmet restaurants with seafood. The Intercontinental Bali Resort and several other luxury hotels are there too.
Transportation: The beach is about 5 km (3 miles) from the airport. It is easy to go to, and it is about 10 minutes south of the airport by vehicle.

2. Nusa Penida for Diving
Nusa Penida is the largest offshore island in Bali. It is just southeast of the main island. It is a wildlife sanctuary area and is known as one of the top three places to dive in all of Indonesia, because big and unusual sea creatures such manta rays and turtles can be seen. In April, the rainy season pollution clears up. Nusa Penida has challenging currents, and it is better for experienced divers.
Not only the sea, but the island itself has a wildlife sanctuary. There are white beaches. It is a place to go to for adventure.
Where to stay: Though hotels have been built or are planned, most guests would probably want to stay at the simple guesthouses. For dining, the local warungs (Indonesian restaurants) provide plenty of seafood and Balinese meals.
Transportation: Speedboats ferry travelers from Bali to Nusa Penida in about 30 or 40 minutes.

3. Nusa Lembongan for Simpler Watersports
Another island near Bali is Nusa Lembongan. It is a 30-minute boat ride, and it is on the route that the boats usually take when they go to Nusa Penida. In late April after the heavy rains of spring, it is another less-visited island to enjoy for quieter beach relaxation and water sports. Going in late April after the Easter vacation period is better if you want less crowding, freer beaches, and lower prices.
There are beautiful green and blue hues of water, and it is a great place for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. April is the hottest month, so it is the best time for being in the water. Surfing is popular too, but it's not very suitable for beginners.
Transport: Ferries from Nusa Lembongan depart from Sanur. A one-way ride costs about 200,000–250,000 IDR (15–19 USD).

4. Mount Batur for Volcano Hiking
As the chance of rain decreases through April, the easier and more popular volcano hike at Mount Batur (1,717 m) in northern Bali is recommended. You may hike up it pre-dawn, as many do, in 2 hours and should enjoy an awesome sunrise, since most of the rainfall's comes in afternoon/evening showers.
It's about 10°C (18°F) cooler on the top of Batur compared to sea level, then there's windchill, so bring some warmer clothing with you.
Transport: Mount Batur is about 75 minutes from Denpasar by private driver or taxi (45 to 55 USD).
5. Jatiluwih for Hiking and Seeing the Yellow Harvest Fields
The Jatiluwih terraces are known as the most popular, the most beautiful, and biggest rice terraces in Bali. They cover 6 square km (2.3 square miles).
Along with tiered fields, there are scenic rivers. You can see Bali's tallest volcano called Mount Agung in the background. People enjoy walking and cycling.
April is the month the weather transitions to the dry season (high tourism season). The jungle and the fields are their lushest during the rainy season. In April, there are green rice fields in full leaf or changing to yellow when harvesting takes place.
There are three different marked routes to trek along on in the Jatiluwih terraced fields area. The longest route is 7 km (4.3 mi), and the shortest is 1.4 km (0.8 mi). It is less crowded than Tegallalang due to accessibility.
Transport: Jatiluwih is about 55 minutes from Denpasar by private driver or taxi (about 30 to 60 USD) or about 44 minutes from Ubud.
