For those in search of comfort and access to the best of what Mandalay has to offer, our team has assembled a list of top, hand-picked hotels. We'd like to help make your stay in the last royal capital of Myanmar as wonderful as it can possibly be.
While the pastoral beauty of Burma may be readily accessible from smaller, off-the-beaten-path guesthouses, larger and more robust hotels can provide and combine the lavish comforts of home with the busy and vibrant Burmese culture, well known throughout the world.
Each hotel listed provides reliable and well maintained facilities, including Wifi access. They all employ trusted staff, and strike a balance between providing excellent amenities and preserving the distinct flavor of Myanmar culture.
Top Hotels
Mandalay is bursting with warm, welcoming people and beautiful sights, but without the proper home-base from which to explore, excursions can quickly exhaust even the most seasoned world-travelers.
That is why we have put extra care into choosing the best hotels and resorts for your travels. In our opinion, they allow you to relax, eat well, recharge your batteries, and prepare for the next day of discovery.

Rupar Mandalar Resort
The Rupar Mandalar Resort is definitely our choice for the pool-lounger, featuring three swimming pools including a swim-up bar. Two restaurants serving Thai, European, and Myanmar food make sure there's not only something new to try, but also the reliable classics you love from home.
The relaxing and comfortable atmosphere at the Rupar Mandalar makes the resort beloved by day-time trekkers returning after a long, sunny adventure.
Four recently renovated 41-square-meter Premier Suites offer the best views and most comfortable accommodation, although most of the other rooms are also luxurious, and the Jasmine and Orchid Suites are really outstanding.
The resort spa services are very popular, including Thai and Rupar massage, hand and foot therapy, as well as a sauna and Jacuzzi.
Mandalay Hill Resort
Offering "celebrity treatment", the aptly named Mandalay Hill Resort rests at the foot of Mandalay Hill, perhaps the most famous attraction in the city; this resort's proximity provides the best opportunity for a sunrise climb for you early-birds.
Three restaurants and a free breakfast buffet let you start the day well, before leaving to explore the city.
The resort has a fully-equipped fitness center and tennis court; tennis lessons can be provided on request. The full service spa is a favorite way of relaxing after a friendly match, or a climb up Mandalay Hill.
Mandalay City Hotel
Despite sitting at the heart of the city, in close proximity to many popular nightlife spots, the Mandalay City Hotel is renowned for its quiet and comfortable location.
For you night-owl explorers or happy-hour bar-flies, the downtown location is perfect for exploring the city, while providing a relaxing and quiet place to turn in for the night.
This hotel has one of the more peaceful pools, nestled in a green-as-Ireland courtyard. If you can't find the right souvenirs in the local markets, the Mandalay City Hotel has you covered; their gift shop sells some of the best souvenirs for your loved ones at home.
Bagan King Hotel
A newcomer amongst Mandalay hotels, The Bagan King's reputation was quickly established on the foundation of its staff's friendliness. Established in 2014, its utilities are clean, new, and fully furnished while maintaining beautiful traditional architecture.
The rooms are spacious, each with a minibar, and car rental is available, along with friendly advice about hot spots around town.
The Bagan King probably has the coziest dining room, with warm lighting and traditional furnishing; and one of the better locations, being only about 5 minutes from the Mandalay Palace and other local attractions.
Top Attractions
The above-mentioned hand-picked hotels offer the best accommodation while keeping our guests in close proximity to the wonders that make Myanmar culture so renowned.
Mandalay Hill
Perfect for sunsets and sunrises, Mandalay Hill is an essential stop-off point during your trip.
You can hire a pick-up to the top, but the hike isn't terribly demanding and there is comfortable shade along the way, with lots of beautiful views, including views of the Palace and Kuthodaw and Sandamuni Paya. The hike takes about 30 minutes. Remember to bring your camera!
Kuthodaw and Sandamuni Paya
At the base of Mandalay Hill and built in the 1800s, these two pagodas host various artifacts, including the World's Largest Book; but more importantly exude an ascetic and mystic ambiance.
After a trek to the peak of Mandalay Hill, enjoy a serene tour to view some of the artifacts most sacred to Burmese Buddhists.
Inwa Ancient City
The ancient imperial capital for over 500 years from the 14th century, the "City of Gems" is a startlingly beautiful historical site. Almost a full day is required to see it's plethora of pagodas, bridges and artifacts.
Make sure you see Bagaya Monastery, where the ancient royals were educated, and the ruined Yadana Hsimi Pagodas (almost destroyed by an earthquake in 1839, yet still preserved).
